What is Tax Efficient Giving?

How can it help support the work of the Irish Society for Autism?

As long as you are a Pay As You Earn (PAYE) taxpayer all you need to do is give a total of €250.00 a year, for us to be able to claim back the tax.

If you are a standard rate tax payer, that makes your donation of €250.00 worth a quarter more than you actually give.  And if you are a higher rate tax payer, we claim back an amazing 71%.

That  would mean that, at the standard rate of tax, a donation of €250.00 would be worth an extra €62.50, while a donation of €250.00 at the higher rate of tax would be worth an extra €173.75 to the Irish Society for Autism.

It does not affect your tax situation in any way, but can make a huge difference to People with Autism.  We seek to provide caring, compassionate and stimulating environments where people with Autism can further their education and develop new skills, which will enable them to live a life of dignity and respect.

That’s why we are asking you to make your donations as tax efficient as you possibly can.

A regular monthly contribution of just €21.00 is a convenient and efficient way that you can help support us in our vital work.

Regular monthly donations can help us plan our work more efficiently.

It is through the support of people that the Irish Society for Autism is able to continue to develop and improve services for people with Autism.

Your annual gift of: €250
Standard rate tax relief: €62.50
Total    €312.50

Higher rate tax relief: €173.73
Total: €423.73

Q&A?

Q. What is the total amount of Donations that qualify for tax relief?
A. Donations that total €250 or more in the full tax year.

Q. I am not a taxpayer but my Husband/Wife is.  What do I do?
A. As you are taxed as a married couple, either party can sign the form using either party’s PPS number.  Your PPS number appears on all tax and social welfare correspondence.

Q. Do I need to disclose my earnings?
A.  Absolutely not.

Q. I am in receipt of a state pension—does this apply to me?
A.  If you only receive the state pension, then you do not pay income tax.  But if you have any other income at all, you probably pay some tax.  The ISA can claim on this amount.
