Chief Executive Message

The Irish Society for Autism was founded in 1963, 45 years ago and has steadfastly over the years worked hard to have services of excellence provided for all people with Autism and their families.

The incidence of Autism has grown dramatically over the same period.  In 1963 the accepted incidence was 1 in 2000 children.  Now we accept that 1 in 100 children will have an Autism Spectrum Disorder and it is believed that he numbers are still growing.

This is our challenge for the foreseeable future:
To ensure that all people with Autism are provided with an Autism Specific support or service that will enhance their lives, develop their potential and protect their entitlements to participate in the development of Society in accordance with their individual capacity   and dignity as human beings.
You are invited to join us in this challenge, this odyssey.  Your support and participation can make a difference.

Pat Matthews.
